Help! I dropped a bottle of olive oil!

I dropped a whole bottle of olive oil onto my ceramic tile kitchen floor, it broke and went everywhere. I've mopped twice, first time with dish detergent and water and the second time with floor cleaner and a bit of bleach. Its still really greasy and a bit slippy and I'm sure someone is going to have an accident. Also it looks horrible. What do I do/use to get the grease of the tiles? Many, many thanks in advance :)

I did that recently too! All over my clothes, the floor, the units, the walls.......only thing that worked was about a whole packet of Johnsons baby wipes.....

I would say lots of fairy liquid in water as hot as you can stand and lots of tea towels to mop it up. Be sure to get all the glass up, it certainly travels well when it shatters!

I did this to not so long ago. You need to soak up the oil with salt or flour and sweep it up rather than try to clean it. I tried the same as you though first! I just rubbed a bit of salt all over the floor and did seem to help a bit!

I have done this recently too - must be an epidemic!! I cleared most of the mess with kitchen roll then used Dettol floor wipes to get rid of the greasiness. Worked really well on my floor - I have Karndean flooring but imagine it would be OK on tiles too.

Mop with biological washing powder dissolved in medium hot water.

Thanks chaps - I'm going to go first with Bibbity's washing powder idea because I seem to remember sorting out a frying pan that way years ago. If that fails I'll try the wipes - only have own brand ones though... The flour idea I will do next time. That reminds me of my primary school when someone was sick in assembly the caretaker would put sawdust on it and then sweep it up . Then I'll bin my mop head.

I would second the salt or flour trick.

I buy my olive oil in plastic bottles. Doesn't look very glamourous, but doesn't smash when I drop it!

I always use cat litter on oil spills. It soaks them all up
