Cat sick on my Birkenstocks?

A few days ago the cat threw up on my Birkenstocks, DH kindly rinsed them under the tap and put them outside to dry in the sunshine.

They look ok, but when worn there is a distinct whiff of Felix puke coming from them. It's nasty! Anyone got any ideas how to get rid of the smell?

I would Detox them.

The Frebreze advert seems convincing.

soak them in any biological powder (pay attention to temperature and colour-fastness, so the colour does not run) overnight
bio enzymes should it sort the puke smell just fine
I had a cat locked in one of the rooms by mistake and it peed and peed on a cream carpet. after load of soaking, the stain is still there but it does smell divine

ah, and use plenty of powder

CaptainMartinCrieff · 15/09/2011 19:43

Eurgh... Were you wearing them at the time?

hellhasnofury · 15/09/2011 19:45

Sprinkle dry bicarbonate of soda over them, leave it on them overnight then shake it off

Right I'll try the dry bicarb thing over them tonight - and if that doesn't work they'll be getting a soak in washing powder. Thanks folks.

And no...I wasn't wearing them thank godness!
