Has anyone had their Dyson serviced? (by Dyson)

Mine is 6ish years old, has recently been used to pick up some plaster dust and really, whilst its ok, isn't working as well as it once was!

I'm hoping someone will tell me they had an official service and it had all its parts replaced and is now like a brand new machine! :)

I had mine serviced earlier this year, when it emitted a horrible burny smell and stopped working. I phoned them, they arranged a visit very quickly. They charge a standard charge of £69 irrespective of what needs doing. With mine, they replaced the motor which had blown, but while they were at it, they also changed both the internal and external filters and the brush bar. They were prompt and polite too.

Better than that, take it apart, wash EVERYTHING out, let it dry properly, and put it back together. We've had a complete re-wire, and so masses of plaster dust, and washing it out is like magic, honest.

Failing that, I did get it serviced once, and remember at the time (3 or 4 years ago) telling DH it was the best £50 I'd spent in a long time.

Wow, good to hear its so worth while. mustdash I have taken it apart and washed it a few times, but I feel like stuff gets stuck in the cyclone bit now - although rinsing it through was very satisfying! :)

Its so rare to get what you ask for, and so quickly! Now I feel the need to say 'I'm hoping someone will tell me they want to pay the £73 on my behalf!'

NormanTheForman - I just need to check, were your Dyson and engineers real ones or Playmobil ones?

Before you do, bear in mind that for free you can go on their trouble shooting guide on the website and they talk you through step by step how to get it like new again. Is really easy and a bit like a satisfying jigsaw. I quite enjoyed taking it apart and putting it back together again. Don't get out much.

Mmmm, looking online it says filters aren't included in cost of service. :( That looks like an extra £40 on top of the service cost. I guess there's always a catch.

You can buy filters for far less on your local market/hardware shop. They also sell fan belts for a couple of pounds.
