Please recommend a good carpet cleaner

My dog has had an accident? in the middle of my cream carpet. I have used vanish carpet mousse which has left a yellow stain. I have just shampooed the carpet with a vax carpet cleaner and the mark is still there.
Any suggestions as to what else I can try?

ooh, marking my place. Similar issue, except DH instead of dog (and cider, not 'accident'!).

any type of steam cleaner can help eliminate this, but you need to make sure you get a good soap. Yes, this means that they will cost a little more, but it will pay off. I like the Hoover that I have, but you should shop around to see what is in your budget! How often do you get your carpet professionally cleaned?

I haven't had them professionally cleaned yet but may think about it as the Vax rapide that I used has helped a little but I can still see it.
I will look around at the cost os a professional, at the moment I have put the rug over it!
