Hate my Henry - recommend me a new vacuum cleaner

I find Henry heavy and cumbersome and actually not that good at vacuuming. Want to buy a new vacuum that'll last - maybe an upright this time. I've heard Sebo and Miele are good brands. Like the idea of ease of emptying Dysons. Any recommendations of good models to buy?

Hello!

We've noticed this thread is quite old and some of the product recommendations are a little out of date. After weeks of trawling the Talk boards, talking to parents and researching bestsellers, here are our trusted reviews to help you find the best vacuum cleaner on the market.

Hope this helps! Flowers

Miele Cat and Dog or similar

Had my SEBO for 7 years now and never had a problem with it. Mum has had hers for over 10 years!!!

Don't get a Dyson with a ball. I got one and sent it back: it sucked up even less than our ancient Dyson (which is now pretty rubbish). Our Hetty is great, though.

I hated my Dyson,we now have a miele cat and dog-very happy with it,the small turbo brush is worth buying as an extra if you have carpeted stairs (I have loads).

Hate my Henry. Bought on the recommendation of many mumsnetters. Have decided to get Miele cat and dog next. Even if it breaks my money bank.

I love my henry but have been hankering after a vax so I can wash the carpets... anyone have the vax like this and can recommend it?

Thanks for all your comments. Glad I'm not the only one that hates Henry. Have decided on the Cat & Dog (even though I haven't got any pets). Do you all have the cylinder one as I believe they do an upright too?

I have a pull a long thing, not an upright. It is quite light. Bags are not cheap, but it has had fantastic suction for the last three years and been tested thoroughly on girl hair (2ft long!) and lots of sand. It does a great job
