Milk spilt on wool carpet and now very smellly - help!

Title of post says it all. DD spilt some milk last night and I thought I had managed to clean it all off the carpet but clearly not judging by the horrid sour smell lingering in the front room.

I have put some carpet cleaner on there but while the carpet is now a bit cleaner it still stinks. What next? Will bicarb work?

zoflora ( concentrated disinfectant) is you best bet here ! have used it on all sorts of horrid mishaps and its worked a treat. buy from any supermarket cheap as well.

are you sure you should put zoflora on a wool carpet?

I reckon sodium bicarb would work or a good scrub with baby wipes

biological washing powder in warm water works well. it breaks down the bacteria (works on cat piss anyway...)

water and white vinegar diluted 50:50 will remove the smell.

just pour it over the area than put a towel down and jump up and down to blot up the liquid. repeat and that should be that. there will be a strong smell of vinegar but this disappears completely once the carpet dries.

i wouldn't use biological powder on wool.
