HELP!! My dishwasher stinks!!!

Please can anyone help me??!!

I have a Hotpoint dishwasher (about 3.5 years old) and over the last couple of months it has started to leave everything in it smelling like dirty water!! I've tried cleaning it with those cleaner pack things, have made sure the filters are clean and have checked the sprayer arms too. Initially we thought it might be something to do with the drainage as we didn't have an s-bend drain on it and thought it was a smell chuck-back problem. We now have an s-bend drain on but the dishwasher and it's contents still stink!!

Any ideas please would be gratefully appreciated!!

I don't know then! I was in the supermarket today (buying the little bottles of v v harsh chemicals cleaner) to give the inside of mine a bit of a spruce up when I saw the "dishwasher lemon freshener" for sale.

lol!! I THINK I FOUND THE PROBLEM!!! :o :o :o

DP did some research for me and came across a post that mentioned that if any eggs or anything that contained eggs were put into the dishwasher, then this caused their dishwasher to have a horrible smell. This actually makes a lot of sense as i've been eating omelettes pretty much every day for lunch and having mayo with my salad. My frying pan and my lunch plate have been in the dishwasher, thus stinking it out! I've not had omelette since last Weds so nothing eggy in the dishwasher and guess what?? The smell has gone!! WOOHOO!!!! :o

No way! I'm astonished that could cause that smell. My dishwasher is same and I've been watching this thread and I bake all the time so would answer that.

Whatever you do, dont buy sainsbo's own dishwasher cleaner. Makes your dishwasher smell nasty for days!
