Biro on Vinyl Chair

Can anyone give me a good tip for getting biro off a vinyl-covered chair? Blinking two-year-olds. Oak table is covered in scribble too, but that's coming off with a scourer. Angry

Surgical spirit disolves biro ink like magic.

Hairspray - spray it on from a close distance, then wipe off quickly with a soft cloth

Have you tried a baby wipe?

Stase · 03/08/2011 21:17

Have tried hairspray, toothpaste as advised elsewhere, and a baby wipe. It has faded, but I think I'll try the surgical spirit next. Although I don't have nay... Do you reckon white spirit might be worth a try?

Many thanks for your help! Smile

Not white spirit. Surgical spirit is what you want, they're not the same thing. The isopropanal in surgical spirit disolves biro ink. Trust me on that, my husband is a professor of chemistry. :o

Actually a colleague told me years ago when I cried because someone accidentally drew on my 1 day old sofa with a biro. Every bit came off instantly.

I think WD40 might get the stains off too - and you may have some of this at home already. If you decide to use surgical spirit ( get from chemist) then test on an unseen area first to check it doesn't dissolve any of the finish on the vinyl.

Tried that - didn't work
