Hi i have a little girl of 6 months and as most parents i use muslin squares for mopping up spills and the odd posset although she isnt really a sicky baby. I have noticed they still smell horrible even when washed.could it be that im using non bio and is it ok to re start bio now she is older?

Use some Napisan on them

muslins... biological powder plus 60 degree wash and hang outside to dry

onepieceofcremeegg · 03/08/2011 16:05

They need a hot wash 60 or over. A proper hot wash, not a quick version of it. They need the full amount of detergent. Non-bio is fine if you are doing 60 or over. If you insist on washing at lower then use bio.

If you don't wash them at 60, then bits of milk etc remain on them and they smell because they are not really clean. Dry in the hot sun or tumble if it is raining.

I always used non bio and a hot wash, either 60 or 90.

I second Napisan, works a treat on grotty muslins

Boil them with some vinegar for a few minutes, works very well.

I meant added a little bit of vinegar in the water that is! Makes towels soft after.

Hot wash with bio. Give an extra rinse if you are bothered about bio powder.

Oh and powder not liquids as they dont usually have bleach in them so smells hang around
