Hoover + Long Haired Cats

Can anyone recommend a good hoover that actually has the strength to suck up furballs and cat hair (from long haired cats) please?????????

Currently have a VAX but it's struggling, especially at the moment with all the moulting.........

I have a miele cat and dog (and a Maine coon), and it is great.

omg really??????? does it actually get it all off the upholstery too?

I have 2 long haired cats (persian and persian x) and a shorter haired one too, also have a springer spaniel and a fluffy border collie! I have the Miele cat and dog and would recommend it too.

is there just the one model?

I was quite ashamed after hoovering the stair carpet with I for thefirst time - it was a different colour

It really is good - different attachments and great suction power.

Fairly sure there's only one model. Ours is red, got it after Xmas, should have been £220 ish? (I think, my memory is crap). Was a worthwhile investment.

There are lots of Miele models but one one cat and dog version
Ours is red too and quite battered now but still working well.

The Miele cat and dog one is the same as another model by Miele (S5000 I think). The 2 differences are the price (the cat and dog is more expensive) and a carbon filter that is meant to remove smells. The carbon filter can be bought separately for a tenner in John Lewis and fits on the regular Hoover as it is the same model. As I only have a cat and he doesn't smell, I bought the "normal" Hoover rather than the cat and dog one and saved quite a bit (the regular one was in the sale as well). It is an amazing hoover, works brilliantly on all surfaces.

thanks for the tip, sounds good, and yes, if those are the only two differences then I would go for the cheaper model also....christ, the place is like one big furball at the moment...including my clothes and everything he walks past or rubs up against!

We have the dyson animal. As a super fluffy cram cat that deposits fluff with each and every step. We have had several hoover but the dyson is fab. It has an attachement with bristles that spins so it literally picks off the hair and sucks it away. I love it! It comes with a mini attachement too which is great for the sofa in the spare room (read cat's bed), the sofa is that chenille type fabric that everything sticks too, and the dyson gets it all off in one swipe. Love it!

what are the thoughts on one of those Henry Extra hoovers for cat hair????

I use a sebo to clear up my labradors fur but also have a miele which was better with spaniel fur. One big tip is to invest in a furminator and use it twice a week to remove loose fur- they do one for cats. I have found since getting one that I only have to hoover every third day...previously daily

I have a furminator..........and about 4 different brushes and combs! but it's still everywhere!

We have the Dyson animal upright model its great. We have 2 furry border collies. We had a vax before and it was rubbish would definatly recommend the dyson to anyone with pets.
