Hi
I'm fairly new so be kind! My washing machine has recently began to smell funny.

Is it OK to put it on a cycle empty with nothing but soda crystals in the powder drawer...and will this help!

Thank you

sounds like a good plan.... on a nice hot wash... perhaps with some vinegar where you put softeneer

Our machine also recommends an empty cycle on the 90 degree wash with Bio powder to clean it. Non-bio doesn't kill all the bugs.
We have a box of Bold tablets for this purpose - makes it smell nice too.
Also, dry your rubber seal (the bit underneath the folds IYSWIM) when you finish using it.

I put a cupful of dishwasher salt and a squirt of bleach straight into the drum and did it on a normal 50-60 degree wash.

The whole machine literally gleamed after.

Yes, a monthly wash on the hottest temperature with bio powder / vinegar / laundry bleach / soda crystals (any combination) is generally recommended. Normal bleach can cause damage apparently.

Brilliant thank you.
