How many kitchen units do you have?

We have 9 lower units(double doors) and 4 wide and 4 narrow wall units. Our kitchen is totally full of units and looks wierd, so we want to get rid of some. BUT everyone says you can't have too many. So how many do you manage with?

Lower:
2 x 1000mm unit, one in each corner
1 x 1000mm pan drawer unit
1 x 600mm drawer unit
1 x 800mm under-sink unit
1 x 300mm cupboard

Upper:
2 x 600mm cupboards
1 x corner cupboard

Its enough, but only just. I deliberately refused to have wall units except one group in one corner. We have space for a built in storage/larder cupboard, just need to pay a carpenter to build it. (that'll be about 5 years time then)

I forgot to mention that we have a utility room too with a couple more units. I think the previous owners went kitchen unit crazy.
I'm thinking of cutting it down to :
4 x 1000mm bottom
wall units to the same length
undersink unit
corner carousel thingy.

We have a utility room as well, most of the cleaning stuff is in there. How full are your cupboards? If they're not bursting you would probably get away with it. Maybe have a declutter along the way?

lower units:
5 x 600
2 x 400
1 x 450
1 x 600 drawer unit
plus built in fridge and dishwasher

upper units:
5 x 600
1 x 500
1 x 450
end unit shelf thing

Utility room - 2 x 500 lower unit

Weird question. Do i include the showroom, warehouse and ones in transit/being fitted? Confused

MooM00 · 08/07/2011 13:17

Our cupboards are full, but a lot of the stuff is not really kitchen stuff. There is one full of filing boxes that should go in a filing cabinet in another room and one full of the dc's art stuff that needs to go somewhere else. I think I need to move everything in the kitchen into the units I want to keep and then reassess.

I have 2x low units

and a shelf

kbaby · 08/07/2011 17:13

We have.
3 large singles cupboards
1double corner
1 single
2 sets double draws
1 double large
2 tall larders
1 pan draw
1 over cooker cupboard

We don't have any wall units apart from the larders and built in ones by the cooker.

Quenelle · 08/07/2011 17:27

Not. Enough.

Three double lowers, one single lower, one double upper, one single upper.

It is very poorly designed. They also thought it would be a good idea to devote a whole one of these very precious units to bins. Bins!

You so can have too many. I had too many in my last house so made sure in this one I cut it down. I also went for drawers instead of cupboards in places, less clutter.
There are 4 cupboards and set of 3 deep drawers in island
Then a tall unit, 4 wall cupboards and 2 more sets of deep drawers.
I also have pantry which is far handier than a load of cupboards
