Bath Cleaning tip

I've got a really old cast iron bath that needs re-surfacing but I can't afford it. It was really stained - streaky dull yellow stains. just cleaned it with advanced whitening toothpaste and its come up a treat! God knows what that stuff does to your teeth though!

Sounds expensive, have you tried bar keepers friend?

I only used half a tube of toothpaste which worked out about 50p. I have tried most things on the bath and gave myself blisters scrubbing it and this is the only thing that worked. What is bar keepers friend? I will try anything once.
