You can buy a stainless steel cleaner called Bar Keepers Friend. I have bought some at Sainsburys. It's very good on metals and takes tea stains off my sink.

I just have friends coming over tomorrow for an Afternoon Tea type do and don't want to serve tea with grotty looking tea strainers!

Scrub with a sponge scourer. I have the shiniest tea things in town...my aunt used to soak them in bleach, but a sponge scourer works just fine.
