Any tips for replacing bulb in Neff oven?

The bulb in our oven needs replacing, but the lamp cover won't come off! It is literally baked on, I think. I bought a removing tool specific for this purpose from Neff but it still won't budge. If anyone else has had the same problem and overcome it I would love to hear how you did it!

Hi, same issue with this terribly designed, difficult to access bulb cover. Earlier responses were a great help, thanks. Don’t have a steam cleaner so heated oven up to 50 degrees for a few minutes, switched oven off at wall, sprayed some WD40 around rim, left for a min or so, and then very gently used a small flat screwdriver to very gently lever between the glass cover and housing which seemed to help break the bond. Then used a damp thing cloth (for grip) to help grip and turn and - completely against my zero expectations - managed to unscrew! The elation was quite something (blame lockdown for the distorted sense of joy)....and there was light.....

I too ordered on of those plastic removal tools but it was useless as it just opened wider and rode over the glass flanges on the glass lens. Your best bet is to order a replacement lens in case you break it and need the oven quickly.
Anyway I did what one husband below did. That was to place a peice of wood against one of the flanges on the glass lens and tap the other end of the wood with an hammer and bingo it came undone. Having tried all of the suggestions I was at the point where I did not care if I broke the glass in the process or not. Extra tip though is that the heating element is in the way but it can be dropped, (not disconnected) if you have one of those tools that fit the screws. BTW, there is no majic switch to get it off but it is always safe to switch off at the cooker isolator switch before messing about with it.
Mine is a NEFF oven but identical to a Bosch because they are made in the same factory, just a different label. The model and seriel number is under the door hingle and so it is very difficult if not impossible to read. Mind you I don't think think Bosch items are what they used to in any case. For example I noticed my nieghbour had an old Bosch lawn mower and it did a fantstic job and so I got one and it was totally usless and the cutter bearings got so hot that they melted their way out of the plastic housings. On closer inspection I noticed that it was made under licence for Bosch in China. So I got an older proper version that was made out of metal and all of it made in Germany when every thing Bosch used to be made there and it is working fantastic to this day, 10 years later and doing a great job. Needless to say I don't think Bosch is what it used to be and is just living off it's name these days. Have fun Wink

Oh God. Ours wet about a month ago. I hate this kind of thing. There's also drips in between the door that's going to be a pita to fix.

I wonder if one of those oven cleaner companies would do it. I can't even get the racks out without scratching the oven to clean it

I have a bulb not working in my NEFF oven so after reading the previous comments we tried the steamer, didn’t work, we tried the monkey wrench, didn’t work.we then heater the oven to 80 and it worked. I never had this trouble with a previous oven which was cheaper. I also had trouble with the gas hob as if the pan boils over then the water gets in to the turn on nobs and needs repair. I am not a happy NEFF USER.

To fix this get the tool from Amazon (it's useless on its own), put Duck tape around the bulb cover and use the tool. Came off straight away for me

Having tried for days eventually the cover came off by warming oven and a little bit of wd40 and turning clockwise not anti as it says in manual. Trouble is now the bulb won’t budge and ideas?

Turn the mains off. It really works.

I recently purchased a used Neff double oven, it was very dirty but also very cheap, I was advised that the main oven light didn’t work, apart from that after a thorough clean with Oven Pride ( magic stuff) everything functions. I’ve ordered new oven seals for both ovens
I daubed oven pride all over the lamp cover in the roof of the oven and left it overnight, it initially wouldn’t budge but I took the door off and removed all shelves and put on a pair of Marigolds for grip, I could lean, head inside and twist with both hands
NB twist anti clockwise
Voila, success, a new 40W SES oven lamp from Toolstation and I’m now just like normal folk
I hope it works for you

Great tip. Thanks. I had the same issue. Tried everything. But a little bit of WD40 between the glass cover and the silver ring worked a treat. Went all the way around (carefully using the straw). Cleaned it up. Then bingo! It came off very easily.
