When I was a teen I asked for some poncey bed sheets for my birthday.

They were hand wash only. What sort of sick monster creates hand wash only sheets? My mum, ever the obeyer of washing labels, even thought, 'fuck that!' and put them in the machine.

I'd have boiled washed them to show them whose boss. Fucking smug sheets.

fuckmepinkandcallmerosie · 13/06/2011 13:45

Mrs Armstrong - but the ANGST from DS if I didn't wash it properly - and rowing one pieces are made of heavy weight lycra. And they go commando under them (it's to do with chafing as they go up and down the slide) and apparently if they're too tight it causes numb nuts.

Oh and what about jodphurs? anyone ever tried to get horse shit out of them without shrinking them?

BelovedCunt · 13/06/2011 13:47

if you have horse shit on your jodpurs you need to correct your riding position

I suggest that if ds insists on wearing a poncy unitard for his canoe hefting he can wash it himself.

What if he falls in? What is this river of filtered sterile water he rows in?

I would say ffs stop rowing, get an outboard motor and some sensible clothes that wash at 40 degrees with biological warfare detergent and can be dry-boiled in the tumble dryer.

MrsArmstrong · 13/06/2011 13:50

lol BC

fuckmepinkandcallmerosie · 13/06/2011 13:50

MrsA - he ended up washing the kits himself, the stress did my head in and thus went often in smelly clothes or had to put on wet onepieces

Tis a very dirty smelly river and the water is BROWN

AuntieMonica · 13/06/2011 13:52

*tsk

i sort all my laundry into neat little piles, it's not a hassle at all Hmm

white/pink/yellow in one pile

red/cerise in another

blue/black in another

anything that is handwash/no spin/no detergent/made of gossamer is bunged back and left to bastarding rot, along with the frigging arseholey stuff that needs fecking ironing.

easy as

fuckmepinkandcallmerosie · 13/06/2011 13:53

AuntieMonica - I may employ your approach.

I actually look at washing instructions, and if it's hand wash or dry clean, I don't buy Blush

mollymole · 13/06/2011 13:54

are we supposed to unpick that red and white top that says
'wash whites separately to coloureds'
or 'bright colours may run'

BelovedCunt · 13/06/2011 13:57

i rarely separate colours

AuntieMonica · 13/06/2011 13:58

molly

that one would be in my rotting pile of rancid 'needs washing next time' pile.

at the back of the utility room, hiding the ironing board

feel free fuckme - when the 'fuck that' pile gets too big, there's always the 'air ambulance' collection bag

I once washed a dry clean only mexx cardigan and then had to lose 3 stone in orderto wear it again

BelovedCunt · 13/06/2011 14:08

win win roger

Pennybubbly · 16/06/2011 07:15

Am ROFL at this thread.
Try living in Japan where all washing machines only use cold water.
Unless you want to attach stupid fucking hose to side of washer and perform neck-breaking athletics to then get other end of hose into the bath where it can suck up left-over hot dirty bathwater for it's first wash.... I mean W. T. F.???????
And don't get me started on my combined washer/dryer that washes in aforementioned cold water only but dries at 97,000,0000,000 degrees and I burn my fucking hands on jean buttons EVERY SINGLE TIME

Pennybubbly · 16/06/2011 07:17

Sorry, I hijacked clothes thread with my washer rant Blush

As you were.

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2011 07:27

OP I completely agree, and do the same as the person who can't stand needy clothes - into the machine it goes, survival of the fittest really.

I wanted to clean my wedding dress, so thought I was doing the right thing by taking it to a specialist dry cleaner. They looked at the label and saw it couldn't be dry cleaned - I though Dcing was the ultimate in careful cleaning. I asked what I should do with it and they said "dab it with a sponge". I had a "crushed rose" stain down the side from being crammed in against DH for the photos, the bottom foot was black from the floor, a bit of dabbing with a damp sponge wasn't going to do a damn thing! So I bunged it in the washing machine - took a couple of goes but it came out fine.

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2011 07:28

And have you seen the labels on soft toys "Do not iron"
So who looks at a stuffed winnie the pooh and thinks "You need to be flatter"?

ClarasMummy · 16/06/2011 08:08

"vlad's emporium "

snort.

Butterbur · 16/06/2011 08:19

Girls gymnastics leotards (with all the rhinestones and glitter): Wash inside out in COLD water, WITHOUT DETERGENT! I mean that's not even a wash really, is it?

StealthPolarBear · 16/06/2011 08:21

No, definitely not, that's just a cold rinse
How is that meant to clean anythign?

LordOfTheFlies · 17/06/2011 13:37

My sage green bathmat demands:
wash with like colours( I have no sage green clothes- few would)
non-bio liquid/powder -how am I meant to clean it?
no conditioner - with this water?? I live in Essex!
Line dry- not tumble dry, not hung on radiator.Says so on the label.

This has all of us stamping on it including DH's Hobbit feet and DS 'SoapSwerver' cloven hooves.

BathMat-get over yourself or I'm going to buy one from M&S that I can boil!!
