Sand in white tshirt

DDs white gym tshirt is covered in brown splatters. Apparently they are stains from wet sand. How doI get the buggers out? And why do I have a sinking feeling that sand stains are impossible to remove?

Any stain experts out there to help?

Bleach? I put bleach in my machine when washing whites. If they're really bad I soak them in the sink with belach over night. This is probably a really really bad thing to do, but it's not hurt any of our clothes yet Grin

My Nan swears by Vanish Whites stain remover.

I must admit I'd soak it in bleachy water overnight too!

Shout stain remover spray is (IMO) bette than vanish.

Thanks.
Its a school shirt and has a blue trim round the neck/sleeves/bottom. Would bleach take the colour out of that?
Am in Tokyo so no Vanish, but already tried the J equivalent to no avail. Was thinking of spraying on again and 'bleaching' it in the sun tomorrow (if it doesnt rain!) but am not sure if that method works for sand stains?
