hand held vacuum

Hi,

I need a handheld vacuum to do the clean up after meals and small jobs where I don't want to get out the big vacuum. What is your recommendation?

I am a dyson fan and was going to go for a dyson but then someone said its too big.... Does anyone have one that they think is great?

Yes, I have the Dyson Handheld. (?DC31) I love it. It gets used everyday, light and easy to use - it has a "trigger" mechanism. Easy to empty. Powerful. We had a high powered "dust buster" type previously and the Dyson is miles better.

I don't think it's especially big. I use mine with the crevace tool mainly and it saves my back as I'm not bending so much.

Bad points - it only has a 6 minute charge on "high setting" (I think 10 mins on low). But that's plenty to do small jobs, stairs etc. You tend to blast it rather than run continuously. And it recharges in about 3 hours I think.

Occasionally my finger can slip off the trigger. And finger can get a bit stiff on a really long clean.

It's expensive. But not massively more than a top range dust buster and much better. £1 per use mine has earned its keep a hundred times over.

I've had this for a few months now and it's absolutely brilliant-not too big, so it fits in the cupboard on the second floor and means I don't have to lug the Dyson up two flights of stairs!

We have the white and purple Hoover hand held. Does what is says on the can, have no complaints. As with all of these handhelds tho its got a short life and needs recharging frequently which is a bit of a pain.

I have the earliest dyson hand held, it is great.
I am not a fan of big dysons, but the hand held is fab, expensive, but has been worth the money.

Another vote for the Dyson. It's brilliant; well worth the money IMO

I have a Dyson hand held and really never use it. My DM bought it for me and I am appalled how much it cost. To clean up after meals I use a long handled dust pan and brush.

I was bought one as a Christmas present and use it all the time (to pick up all the crumbs dropped under the table after each meal mainly). Wish I'd got one years ago!

gtech cordless rechargeable floor sweeper, range from £20 upwards, Ive bought everyone in my family one at some point they are brilliant. Charge through the night as they need a long charge but they work so well, a quick flick over the floor and you are done in seconds so one charge can last ages. I did my stairs with mine and was shocked by how much it collected it was embarrassing how dirty the stairs were even though had recently been hoovered. As it has a long handle no bending down but handle is removeable so you can do the stairs. The online reviews for them say it all really.

I got mine at Argos for £35 but QVC sell them too with the bonus being you can try them out for 30 days and if you dont like it you send it back no questions asked even if you've used it which you couldn't do anywhere else. Got my first gtech from qvc thinking if it was rubbish I would return it - it was brilliant just like the reviews said it was. Very light weight and fast, take it anywhere in the home, carpets, laminate and tiles etc and no messing about plugging it in.
