I've just been de-cluttered!

I've just experienced 5 hours of de-cluttering!

Paid a lady come round and help me go thru my cupboards and am feeling really great now. Pulled out lots of random crap from the back of shelves, put things in sensible places, and helped me get all my new baby stuff into order.

Seems ridiculous to spend money on this but I'm really glad I did it as the upheaval of pulling so much stuff out is very stressful if you're not sure how to put it back.

The lady did not have the terrifying efficiency that I was hoping for (like something from a TV show) but was very calm and sensible and was happy to listen to me burble on about why I was struggling to get rid of somethings. She also did a lot of heavy lifting which was so great as I am pg and struggling with backache.

I may well have her back again to do the kitchen!

That would be my ideal job Grin

You mean you can pay people to sort cupboards out??

TubbyDuffs · 24/05/2011 18:38

OMG I would love to chuck out other people's shite, it may in fact help me chuck out my own.... how do I apply for the job??

Seriously though, I have subscribed to flylady.com and there are loads of articles about decluttering etc and taken one step at a time they are really very helpful... it is great to spend an hour on a room and then keep walking back in there because it is no longer full of useless crap and everything has a home!

I would find it so easy to throw other people's crap clutter away. It's a shame I find chucking my own stuff out so difficult!

It was not so much about chucking out as putting in order and seeing what you've got - going thru cupboards meant a lot of "oh THAT's where that went", I've been looking for that, that will be really useful now I know where it is etc.

It was very quick for me to get stuff ready to go to charity as I have been steadily decluttering for several months now.

I did get rid of about half of a collection of crap I've been hoarding for over 20 years tho, YAY FOR ME! And did that pretty much on my own, with her adding helpful comments about how well I was doing. Encouragement goes a long way.

Funnily enough I think I'd also be quite good at organising other people, I am generally very organised, just a few troublesome areas here and there Blush.

Anyway site I used is here if anyone's interested wants a job Grin
