Cleaning dishwasher with soda crystals

Do I put them into the detergent dispenser or just chuck in a couple of handfuls?

In fact is it same drill for washing machine?

Sorry, dont know about the dishwasher, but I'll bump this as I would love to know the answer!

For the washing machine, I just put some in with the detergent sometimes.

I just put in a cup into the dishwasher (dispenser doesn't hold that much).

washing mashine: I use half the detergent they say on the pack + top up with soda crystals. once a month an empty boilwash with crystals direct in drum.

Thanks, Mousey, do you do the dishwasher with a load on, or an empty washer?

not a full load, but I put the washing up brush in there as well.
