Cleaning a gas oven - daft question

Hi there,

Just wondering if anyone can help me out with (what feels like) a bit of a daft question.

I am wanting to clean my gas oven but not sure how to go about doing this as highly flammable cleaning products and the naked flame you get with a gas oven don't mix. We don't appear to have the manual for it (not sure if the landlord left one), although it is fairly new.

Can I just use something like Jif cream cleaner?

I've used flammable products on mine, didn't think at all, then panicked for ages and eventually stood really far away from the oven to press the ignition spark thing with a broom handle Blush

And nothing happened. It's not flammable once it's been rinsed and then dried, apparently.

Thanks BertieBotts, I will go ahead and give it a good scrub with Jif then.
