I'm having dc2 soon and have a lot of muslins from DS I want to reuse.
Thing is they look a bit a greyish these days.
Should I bleach them White- will this work! What bleach do I need? Milton?
Or...
Go and get some bright coloured dye and dye them navy and lime or something like that?

Thoughts please
Many thanks

I'd go with Dylon machine dye. Buy dishwasher salt, not Dylon salt to activate it. I got some really cheap white mitts and hats from ebay and did them violet along with some second hand white clothes we were given and it worked really well. Bear in mind when choosing a colour that puke is whitish!

Shock i nearly spat my tea out. I read your thread title as "muslims" to bleach or dye!

I thought DP was back Grin

I hang them out on nice sunny days. That seems to bleach them enough at the moment.

mumblechum1 · 13/05/2011 13:59

I know, I keep seeing muslims for muslins.

ProfYaffle · 13/05/2011 14:02

I always have to think carefully before saying either muslin or muslim, I get them mixed up all the time!

I dyed dd1's old ones, dye's quite expensive these days though, bleach would be cheaper. Personally, I just use any old cheapo bleach in a bucket with cold water, don't put too much in though or the material weakens.

same mistake and reaction Mamaz0n. I had to peek in the thread to see if anyone was as silly as me! Yes :)

prolificwillybreeder · 13/05/2011 14:46

Haha I was really careful to make sure my phone Didn't change it to muslim!
Shame I can't just get small quantities of different dyes.

Ah well will look in town. You can't dye things pastel colours can you?

I dyed ours with a bright blue Dylon machine Dye before I had DS and they looked great. They were pretty horrible beforehand as DD had been a very sicky baby.

Loads of people commented on them and asked where I'd bought them from
