Cleaning brushed steel

My hob and part of the oven door are brushed steel, and no matter what I use to clean it, it always looks smudged. I've tried stainless steel cleaner, and even window cleaner to get a smear free look, but it doesn't work. Any ideas??

I usually buff it up an e cloth after cleaning (if I can be bothered). My builder recommended baby oil and a good buff, apparently they use that when preeping show homes - haven't tried it though.

I've just had new kitchen installed with similar hob and I ordered the E cloth for stainless steel and it's bloody fantastic! a bit scrubby on one side, soft on other. use damp on scrubby side in direction of brushed effect then I buff with another dry microfibre cloth. no marks/smears.

my kitchen fitters also recommended a buff with baby oil too.

oil keeps it smear free

I don't like oil, seems grimy to me, have no idea why.

The absolute best thing for brushed steel (& believe me, I have tried everything) is called Neoblank, but I can't find a stockist on the web.

Baby oil is very good, as is Method's stainless steel cleaner. Lemon juice will also work wonders for a smudge free surface.

If you've got any light scratched a quick buffing with T-Cut should take them away.

I have stained the front of my stainless steel oven by using Cillit Bang Power Cleaner. I have used stainless steel cleaner & vinegar to no effect. Any ideas?
