Window cleaning help needed

We had a lovely window cleaner who used to come to the house and sort out the outsides for us, but he's moved away. Option one would be to find another cleaner, but the first person I asked to come and quote for the job didn't show up, and the second hasn't returned calls. Option two is a DIY job. The inside I can manage, but bits of the outside are not really reach-able from inside. I seem to remember my mother, years ago, having some gadget that cleaned inside and out at the same time (no, it wasn't my father!), but have no idea what it was called. Any tips or recommendations? It would be lovely to be able to SEE the garden this summer with the windows closed!

A gadget that cleans inside and out? That would put window cleaners out of business?!

Is this the sort of thing you were thinking of, workatemylife? I remember these being advertised years ago, not sure how well they work though. The same company also does one for double glazing too.

Fantastic - thank you for the link. I do wonder how well they work with double glazing, but it might be worth a shot. Thank you NTW. (and with apologies to dazarooney for potentially denting the income of windowcleaners!)

ha never thought about that idea before even though it's what i used to clean my fish tank with.

i'd say ask your neighbours. no doubt someone on your road will have a window cleaner they can recommend or advise to avoid and you'll get the better prices as they already cover your area.

nanthewiser that's how they clean the inside of fish tanks - cool! I'm going to buy one of those now.

OP - check your windows - many UPVC windows atually have a mechanism that enables you to almost turn them inside out. They have special hinges moving them into a good position for cleaning.
