Kitchen is quite warm in the summer so washing machine is a bit smelly - DD loves fiddling with door so I can't always "monitor" that it's left open to air.

there is a manky looking black bit in the folds of the rubber which smells. I wipe it out regularly but I would like to get it looking cleaner and not smelling like something from planet ming.

We recently put our washer on a 95 degree wash with no clothes in it just to get it all super clean. It worked with the door seal too. You could give that a try.

great thanks for these tips. I only ever wash at 40 so maybe that's part of the problem.

I do 1/2 a capful of bleach and a cupful of dishwasher salt and do it on 60 - comes out like new

Cup of White vinegar in an empty machine on a 90 degree wash every couple of weeks or so. I wipe the seal with anti bac wipes from time to time and wash the drawer occasionally - don't use fabric conditioner or powder in the drawer so it doesn't get too manky.

do you put the white vinegar in the drum or in the drawer?
