So says DH. I don't think that can be the case. Am I right? What are we doing wrong and what do we need to do to fix it?

Mine doesn't. Probably needs a couple of hot washes. I bung a cup full of soda crystals in the bottom of mine then run a hot wash whilst it's empty.

He's wrong. Some don't smell, and some smell only some of the time.

Is it a rotten sort of smell? The waste pipe it empties through might need unclogging.

Mine doesn't smell.
Buy one of those cleaner things - Finish whatsits. They're not cheap - you just stick them in and do a cycle - but they're quite good.
Or are your drains are an issue - is the dirty water sitting around somewhere below and getting whiffy?

SummerRain · 06/05/2011 16:31

mine doesn't.... only ever use 50deg quickwash but rinse everything well before putting it in so no lumps of food get in there ever.

breatheslowly · 06/05/2011 16:51

I think it might be rotten food somewhere. I might try the hot wash thing first as getting it out to have a look is a bit of a chore. Glad I'm right though Smile

Clean filters, then hot wash then try. Don't think it should smell tbh

Ours gets a bit whiffy if we haven't put it on for a few days, disgusting I know but if we eat out it can take a while to fill it up!!
Just run it through a hot wash without anything in it and the smell will go.
I hate those lemon freshner things, we had one and it smelled awful. Very chemically and nothing like lemons at all.

Leave it ajar between uses, if possible, too.

You need to use lots of dishwasher salt and have it on the hottest wash and put a cleaner through it once every 6 weeks.
