Ideas for accent colour for living room

The nice weather has made me want to spring clean my living room and brighten it up with some new accessories.
At the moment I call it the coffee room as the colours in it are all shades of beige/brown. The sofas are dark brown leather, carpet is cream, walls are mid-beige. Coffee table & side tables dark wood. The throws, cushions & accessories are shades of cream/brown. It sounds boring but its really nice & cosy in the winter.
However for summer I would like to bring in a brighter accent colour, but I'm hopless with colours and can't decide what colour would look good with the existing items. Please has anyone got any colour suggestions?

I'm not much good at colours either, but I would have thought most colours would go with the beige walls?

Do you have a picture on the wall you could pick a colour out from?

I was in Next Home a couple of weeks ago & they had some lovely brightly coloured accessories in there, pink, teal and lime green (I am starting to get a bit obsessed by lime green, am considering painting the hall, stairs & landing in it!)

When we were looking for colour ideas for the dining room i googled "colours for dining room" and looked at the images that came up for inspiration - perhaps that could work for you too? If not, I'm sure someone who knows what they're talking about will be along soon!

Thanks bessie26 - I also love lime green & that was one of the colours that I was thinking about. It's a good suggestion about googling as well that had not occurred to me.

Not such a good idea to google after all - I now want to decorate the whole house completely!

Any more suggestions of colours from all you interior decorators out there?

I have the same in my living room, I am soon to be decorating with an accent colour of a sort of peacock greeny blue, with stone colour on the rest of the walls.

My living room is similar, but with some gold and accented with my favourite teal colour. (The green fireplace was limiting). I find it comfortable too, and it has been more admired than any other room over the years.
