Clever shoe storeage ideas

Do you have a neat way to store shoes?

In my wardrobe I have all my shoes in clear boxes (so satisfying) but by the front door all the kids shoes are in a massive jumble which drives me crazy.

Anyone got a good tip?

I do use a big tub and they all go in their but they spill out and it's so messy (anal emoticon).

We have wicker vegetable baskets built in as a sort of tower of drawers. Basket for each dc plus one for swimming stuff.

Baskets us a good idea. When I sort my hall out, that sounds like something we should have

Kirstie Allsop's book has a lovely pic of an old bookcase or similar stuffed with kids' shoes.

It looks great but inding them might be awkward as I can imagine they would all just fall out if disturbed. Ours remain in a heap, under the sofa, etc etc (can never find a matching pair)

Thanks guys. I'm having a clear out of shoes today, change of seasons so chucking out the summer stuff (we're in the s. hemisphere so looking forward to winter here).

I think if there are less then at least they'll be easier to manage.

I have a storage thing by the front door for shoes its from argos its made from cream coloured canvas and a metal frame. It has lots of shoe sized pockets/shelves will hold 20 pairs of childrens shoes or 10 pairs of adult shoes. It does look dirty now and I keep meaning to wash it but worried I will spoil it. Don't know how I could cope with all the shoes that are in it now, no where else to put them.

Budgie - I would think it would be ok to wash. Take the canvas off and wash it by hand in the bath with bio powder then put the frame back in while it's damp and dry it in the sun I reckon!

My shoes are still in a big checked laundry bag not unpacked since we moved in January!
