Memory Foam - cheap vs expensive

Hi

Does anyone know what the difference is between the cheap and expensive memory foam mattresses?

There are more than I can shake a stick at on Ebay for about £150 (kingsize),new. But then there are plenty in the £350 and £600 bracket. The ones on the John Lewis website are 1k+! Shock

We've got double one in the spare room from ebay which seems fine to me. But now 7 months pregnant with twins it's the only way I can get comfortable. So I'm looking for a kingsize one for our bed. I don't mind spending the money, but would rather not if there is no difference between them! Smile

TIA

We got one from ebay

a cheap one with a king size divan with 4 drawers for £200 ish. (they sell the mattress seperately for a bit less) Its white and even the pattern is nice.
All delivered by the delivery men up stairs into the bedroom

I can honestly say its the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in. We have had it over a year and its still as new. I swear its our most 'bargainouse' purchase EVER... really really really comfy.

(and i have slept on super super expensive mattresses many times to)

Both me and oh LOVE it!

(ours a good quality pocket sprung mattress, with a layer of memory foam on the top).... i went to try mattreses out in bed shops, and decided i wanted a 'certain level' of springs. This one was even better than what i wanted and a fraction of the price, and delivered!

AVOID!!!! Ours was great for 2 years, now has remembered our outlines and we have permanent dips where my OH lies - he cannot move from that position! He is a fairly typical sized bloke (12 stone ish). Ours was probably mid price range (from memory £500ish for a double).

We too bought it when I was pregnant (3.5 yrs ago) and it was good initially. However, when you look at online reviews there is a real trend of good reviews initially (and we would of left a good review then too). Anyone who has had one for 2+ years seems to complain. As soon as we have some spare cash we will be replacing it... for now it is so bad we have turned it over and are sleeping on the wrong side - which is far too hard for me.

I'm so stupid! We've just gone from a double bed with a lovely memory foam mattress to a king size bed with memory foam and I'm sooooo not happy.

I thought all memory foam mattresses were the same and have only just realised that they also come in medium, medium-firm etc. Blush

I'm up this morning because of a back ache cos its too hard Sad
It only came on Tuesday. Bugger.

Rats. So many different opinions Grin

I'm beginning to resign myself to the fact that sleeping in pregnancy is just horrible whatever mattress I have! Hmm

thanks guys

Not sure what the difference is, but have just bought one from mattress heaven 247 . co .ok,and it is the best money I have ever spent.... they are on ebay too but if you phone them, the guy is really helpful.

I bought an expensive one for one bed and cheaper version for another and the more expensive one is very, very comfortable but beware they get very hot. Next time I'd get an ordinary matress.

Notsohotanymore · 26/04/2011 09:25

I believe you get what you pay for.

bamboobutton · 26/04/2011 09:33

i would say go for a normal mattress with a layer of memory foam built in on top.

we got a relyon from ebay for about £300ish(years ago so can't really remember how much it was)

it was the most comfortable mattress we have ever had. unfortunatly we rent so move all the time so mattress is in the garage as it wouldn't go up the stairs in this house. i hope it survived the winter in there Sad
we are on silent night memoryfoam-in-a-box mattresses now and they are ok.

I don't know the difference, but I can just want to suggest you to get your Memory Foam Mattress from Cool flex ltd. They really have quality Memory Foam Mattresses in affordable prices.
