mowing the lawn with washing out??

I know this is an incredibly boring thread but I have never mowed the lawn before!!

I have just put a load of washing on and want to hang it outside and the lawn also desperatley needs mowing and the only chance i will have to do it is later this morning, would it be stupid to mow whilst my washing is out?

My washing line is just off the lawn so it is very close and i'm not sure if there will be any 'backfire' from the lawn mower!!

yawn, god sorry I bored myself there for a minute!!

Dh does it all the time. Vair funny to see him fighting his way through the washing. Never had a problem about it.

gorionine · 19/04/2011 07:59

same as trumpton (except I am the idiot hanging the washing and then deciding I should mow the lawn Grin)

I do it. Grass all round the washing line so have to go though the washing. Never had any probs.

Depends on the design of your lawn mower. Mine has a funny vent that tiny bits of grass fly out of, so I tend not to mow with washing out.

Wow thanks for all the replies! I wasn't expecting to get any Smile

I will give it a go later and see how I get on then!

As for the design of the mower... I know it's orange and grey Grin

Thanks Mutt, no one suffers from Hayfever in our family but thanks for the warning!

Does it have a grassbox that collects the cuttings? if so, you should be fine. Just don't get the cable tangled around the posts!

It's so hot here already that frankly you could dry your washing by lunchtime and do the mowing afterwards. Or mow now while the washing is in the machine. Or do what I'm doing and procrastinatet in the sun with a cup of coffee!

myflabberisgasted · 19/04/2011 11:17

I've done it!! And i'm really proud of myself it's the first time i've ever done something like that all by myself

It's hot here too PatientGriselda and my plans for this afternoon have fallen through so I think I deserve a break outside this afternoon!

Well done! I think you definitely deserve an afternoon in the sun. Fill your ice cube trays now!
