Menu plan, menu plan, menu plan - and use things up before you go shopping for more. (I just need to take my own advice there Hmm).

Compare the prices of a portion of different carbohydrates - I did it once and instantly stopped buying the instant packet rice at 70p per portion or whatever it was, when spuds from the market were about 10p per portion. You could do the same with pricing up meals you often eat.

Buy what's on offer and be creative - my looal store had bags of frozen peas that had split at half price. Buy several and make soup with some.

Don't sniff at coupuns.

BUt if you can offset at least aome of this by buying from local gercer, butcher, deli - please do

Be sensible about best buy/use buy - ignore and use your nose.

Try shopping at Lidl/Aldi if you have one nearby - we did our first Lidl shop today and the equivalent shopping list at Sainsburys was almost £30 dearer.

Agree with meal planning above. Also only buy what you have on your list - bargains are only bargains if you actually needed them in the first place!
