I am shortly decoring my lounge, and going for this paper on the chimney wall, with the recommended pale paint on the other walls. (Need to paper the chimney wall as it is quite ropey, and would look really bad with just paint).

I go into some people's houses and everything just looks beautiful - so co-ordinated etc. So, I am appealing for help with window dressings. I have a big bay window, 3 windows 4ft wide and am struggling with what to put there. Floors are laminate oak, and it is south facing so really sunny. I need something up to stop us being blinded by the sun during the day.

I do like long wafty type curtains, but not sure if they would go with the wallpaper. Oh, and will be getting new sofa, so can get that to fit with anythingSmile

Does anyone have any ideas, before I google myself stupidBlush

My Mum has got Ikea Lenda up in the cream colour and they stop the glare of the sunshine, but don't leave it dark in the room during a sunny day. They are also a good price.

I took off her tab tops, stitched two pairs into one pair and added 3" pencil pleat tape. They look fab!
They come in a kind of taupe colour too which might go well with the darker colour of the wallpaper...
Of course, they might not be what you are looking for at all :)

thanks Solos, I have actually had those before in a different houseSmile

I forgot to say in my opBlush - I was thinking of having roller blinds at the window as well as curtains, as then i can position the blind to block the sun while leaving the curtains open, but cant figure out whether to have plain or patterned - light or dark etcConfused

Personally pick up the duck egg colour (it looks that way anyway) in the curtains, and I think I'd choose plain given the patterned wallpaper. My living room is similar colours. I want a brown leather sofa to go in my room, because we have a beige one just now and it looks blah- too much beige in the room. Something like this?
Not sure about roller blinds- not normally very stylish. Would you consider roman blinds, perhaps instead of curtains?

Thanks Ellan, yes - I was thinking of highlighting the duck egg, its a lovely colour. Re the sofa - that's given me food for thought, as I currently have 2 x brown leather sofas, very similar to the one you linked toSmile I was thinking of getting a paler one, but maybe I will have too much beige as wellConfused

I like the idea of roman blinds. We are not overlooked at the back, and the curtains would probably only be for decoration anyway. We have awful vertical blinds up at the moment, which were here when I moved in, and am only just getting round to replacing themBlush

THanks for your suggestionsSmile
