Would you spend £45 on new wheels for a 9yo dishwasher?

No, I'm not talking about DD1. Grin

Our Zanussi Dishwasher has almost no functioning wheels left, so pulling out the crockery racks is fraught with danger. Buying replacements will cost £45.

But it's 9 years old! Admittedly, it works pretty well (apart from the drying fan that sounds like a dead bird caught in an aeroplane propellor), but is it just throwing good money away?

Would we be better off just putting the £45 towards buying a replacement?

How long do dishwashers generally last??

9 years is pretty good! I would buy a new one. They're not that expensive... Smile

That's what I'm wondering.

If a set of wheels was £20, it would be worth a risk.

If it was £150 - no way, I'd be off to Currys.

But £45........

i would buy the wheels. cheaper and more eco-friendly

I'd buy a new one. 9 years is longer than any of my dishwashers have lasted, so having replaced the wheels I think it would need something else quite soon.
A new one is likely to be more Eco friendly in terms of electricity and water consumption.

Good points, both of you....

I just can't bring myself to spend such a huge sum on a few bits of plastic. I'm not even buying a full set for the upper tray, or the bill would be over £60!

Is it any wonder no-one bothers getting household goods repaired nowadays?

have you shopped around?

i found our local independent shops tend to be good for this kind of thing, they'll often give you ones off old display models and stuff for much less money...

See i dont think 45 is bad. I had zanusi at other house and it was fab. I'd pay more to have it back.

Pay 45 and get another 5 years most likely.

Fan issue though Hmm

I did buy new wheels for ours a few years ago, just for the lower rack - can't remember how much the wheels were or how old the d/w was...

a decent new one would be c £400 though so worth getting the wheels - if you get just one more year out of the old one it's worth it!
