now the sun is out I can see all the smears, even after cleaning. What's the trick? at the moment I'm using wipes but they're cheapo ones and just seem to rearrange the smears - can anyone recommend some or should I ditch the wipes idea and use something else?

white vinegar and newspaper for mirrors - the same as windows.

Newspaper is magic as is my new Lakeland e-cloth. I use paper with squirty window stuff or e-cloth on own. No streaks. That said everything streaky and dusty now as haven't been arsed for a while Grin

I agree, nothing does the windows like white vinegar and newspaper. I dilute the vinegar in hot water and wash the windows with a cloth then dry them with a ball of newspaper. It is worth wearing rubber gloves though or your hands go black and the vinegar can nip if you have any cuts.

I have these, and they are the bees knees.
