Washing machine filter - Please come and help me clever mumsnetters

The pump cover on my Bosch Classix Washing Machine will only turn a quarter turn and then stops. My ExH got incredibly zealous at trying to help and has cracked the handle a little in one section to, but the thing still will not budge. Even my mum has had a go.

Please give me some more ideas to try. I do not want to pay an engineer for something this simple.

I've had this problem! Man came out and tilted the machine backwards, footered about underneath and pulled blockage out that way. Could you try that?

Oooo that's a good idea. The lovely park ranger chappy who lives opposite me has promised to come and look tomorrow at about 11am. I'll suggest that to him. Thank you

ooh I had this on an old machine - a hair clip had got stuck in it, I think the machine repair man jiggled it about bit to open it - luckily he was a very nice man who laughed alot & didn't charge me as he was on his way home from another job

It was a hair clip the old fashioned kirby (sp?) grip kind. What a pig it was to get it out though. My neighbour was an absoluter star!
