I was looking on ebay for ideas for some bedding and was thinking about the eiderdowns i had as a child (grew up with grandparents, very traditional lol) I saw some beautiful ones but they are so expensive!

Anyone know where i can get one for less than £50 or maybe something similar to an eiderdown? Pref in blues or greys? TIA

Probably not what you are looking for but cheap patchwork

My grandma had them too! Beautiful silk floral covers, a few stains that I hope were spilt tea but would rather not know tbh... but sooo lovely and prob. worth a fortune today. You do realise they were just duvets, but without covers? And that people sweated and vomited just as much back then as they do now, so the years will not have been very kind to most of them? Hmm

Boring answer, but no, it can't be done. Pay £200 at White Co or Cologne & Cotton for a modern interpretation of those lovely eiderdowns... or maybe antiques fairs or good estate sales? Still, the stains would worry me if they weren't from my own granny's house Wink

this place will handmake a double size for £154.

i think i might get one made for me for the winter, i get so cold and normal duvets don't keep me very warm.

I would get a woollen duvet (there are some online places who sell them), much better at regulating body temperature in summer and winter then anything containing down TBH and then choose some lovely duvet covers ....

my mum got me a king size one from the shopping channel ideal world...she didnt tell me how much it cost but she said it was a bargain...may not be an eiderdown but it is feathers....lovely and comfy

The one from aldi looks nice but its a sunday special isnt it? Would i be able to get it now?

TBH im not going to have it over the bed when we are sleeping its mainly just to throw over to 'look nice'. I have a king sized bed so wanting something to fit that with a budget :( most im seeing are between £150 and £400 Shock
