How do you clean your laminate floors?

We've just refurbished our flat and now have laminate floor everywhere (except kitchen and bathroom which both have tiles). It's only been down for two weeks but I've already got a huge amount of dust under my bed and food crumbs everywhere, so please five me your top tips on keeping laminate flooring looking good.

I've been looking at steam cleaners from Lakeland (after reading about them on here), but what about general tidying - hoover, sweep or is there an easier way?

I hoover because our flat is really small so it's easy & quick to do. I never found sweeping very good at gathering up all the dust and fluff properly.

I think mop with very, very hot water so that it dries quickly. Occasionally put cleaner in with the water but plain very hot water does the job pretty well.

Hoover then steam mop.

I've just been reading the Roomba thread - I might get one of those! I am definitely getting s steam mop (but not telling DH because he thinks it will become yet another gadget we'll never use).

Hoover, then mop with very hot water and a squirt of washing up liquid, wrung out really, really well.

I just vacuum it & if there are any spots where something has been spilt then I'll just wipe that bit with a Jcloth. Our laminate floors are all upstairs though so don't really get that dirty....

Vacumn with soft brush attatchment, then mop with an e cloth.

I use a California floor sweeper although mine is an old one so doesn't have a flexi handle. I've had it for years. I used to follow that with floor wipes but mow I use my Lakeland steam mop, which I love Grin

Yesterday I went over it again after mopping with the California sweeper, which polished it up a treat. But this rather defeats the object of steaming = disinfecting I suppose Hmm

I hoover and then mop them with a mop that is suitable (a rectangular one).

Maybe I could buy a spare sweeper head - use the skanky one for sweeping and the new one for polishing. iirc you can wash them.

Just sweep and mop - I use Ecover linseed floor soap and a whizz mop, but any mop will do. Don't even need a hoover.
