How do I get it out? Have tried Vanish carpet cleaner, but it doesn't seem to be doing much.

It wont come out.

You could try diluted bleach ?

Albrecht · 02/04/2011 12:15

Umm

Get a nice new floor ornament for that spot?

baabaapinksheep · 02/04/2011 12:18

Bugger, its a rented house, and it's in the middle of the carpet.

Don't think I'll be putting lillies in the living room again.

Not much help sorry

And more internet links here

Isopropyl alcohol seems to be coming up a lot. You can get that from computer shops - it's used for cleaning components.

This is a bit after the fact, but I was always taught to snip those bits out of the lilys the moment they appear. You never know when they're going to fall off and ruin your carpet/clothes/sofa (delete as appropriate)

kazmus · 02/04/2011 12:31

always cut out those bits, mainly cos of mess but also very poisonous to pets particularly cats! Probably not too good for kiddies either but as no one at home liable to put them in their mouth that shouldn't be a problem....apart from the cats that is!

BigBadMummy · 02/04/2011 12:33

Sellotape.

Dont bleach it FFS!!

Sellotape will lift most of it out. Unless you have started to scrub it.

It can't have left too big a mark, try a carpet shampoo

baabaapinksheep · 02/04/2011 14:08

I didn't snip them out as no pets and the DC couldn't reach them, and I thought they are what make the lillies smell?

I've already scrubbed with carpet cleaner, I'm going to try a heavier duty one and if that doesn't work then just hope it fades over time.

Bastard stuff doesn't come out! Use sellotape to pick it up in first instance. I always snip the stamens(?) out now.

peeriebear · 02/04/2011 16:19

I was going to add sellotape too. My dad leaned over some lilies and got a huge pawprint-shaped blot of pollen on his very chavvy white hoodie, he was distraught and was about to rub it when i shouted "Noooooooooooooooo! Sellotaaaaaape!!" It all came off and he was extremely grateful :o

Moomoomie · 02/04/2011 20:38

I have heard rubbing it with white bread works, not sure if it would work after already cleaning though, but worth a try.
