How old is your fridge freezer?

Ours is about 10 years old and there seems to be a problem with the temperature. My neighbour had the exact same model which died about a year agoSad

AIBU to expect an expensive fridgefreezer to last more than 10 years?

Ours is getting on a bit (13 years) and has a strop about keeping the freezer temperature down once or twice a year. We clear it out, turn it off for 12 hours, let it have a little lie down and think about its future (in our house or on the tip) and when we turn it back on it usually behaves for awhile.

We stay in a holiday cottage which has an original american fridge from the early 50s! It still works just fine!

Ours is about 16 yrs old and still seems ok. Nothing obvious wrong anyway.

We have had ours (Bosch) for 12 years and it was at dh's office for 2 years before that. When they moved offices they were going to skip it so dh asked if he could have it!

One is 2 years old, the other (spare drinks fridge/christmas freezer) is about 15.

ours is 8 years old
tbh I wouldn't expect them to go >10 years anymore without needing some repairs

bigTillyMint · 31/03/2011 18:59

Well that's helpful, thanks! At least it's not unusual for them to be going a bit by 10 years.

Ths spare freezer under the stairs is at least 15 years old and a much, much cheaper modelHmm

I've got it on the highest setting and the freezer seems to be OK, fridge a bit cold, so when it's emptier, I will try defrosting and we can turn it off during Easter as we are away. If we can get to the plug!
