Can my kitchen knives be made sharp again?

My DP decided to sharpen the expensive kitchen knives. He's made them all blunt and taken the serrated edge off 1 of the knives. Grrrrrr.

Can they be rescued if I take them to a specialist knife person?

Might have to take the serrated one to a specialist, but if you know a friendly butcher or chef, they'd probably be happy to do them for you.

What on earth did he "sharpen" them with?

I sharpened my expensive ones with an ikea knife sharpener!
Worked a treat but didn't try it on searated ones.
Silly dh!

He sharpened them with the knife sharpener but obviously not got the angles right ( though he denies that). Slicing a tomato is now incredibly hard work. I think I will phone the place we bought them from and ask the man if he can help me. Grrrr.

I'd be surprised if you could rescue the serrated knife - I was told not to touch mine with a sharpener. The other knives should be fine but you will have to go to a proper knife sharpener to regrind the cutting edge - the butcher may do it.

I use a chef's choice electronic sharpener to regrind my knives cutting edge (once a year) - it has magnetic guides to get the perfect angle and use a steel to hone the knives on a daily basis.
