OMG! What a mess!

I left my Ex husband in my house for the weekend as he had the kids and doesn't have his own place. I went and stayed with my DP. I came back last night, shattered and the house is a TOTAL TIP! He has been here since Thursday and every meal that was eaten has just been left everywhere, no washing up or anything has been done. There is mould on things in the kitchen, food/rubbish/nappies all over the floor. Even the potty etc wasn't emptied!

Needless to say I won't be making the same mistake for a while! But I have my new DP coming round tonight and I only have today to get it cleaned up!! I don't know where to start! I have 2 toddlers too who will be here all day - who I wanted to spend quality time with as I haven't seen them all weekend.

Where on earth do I start?! Do I take photos of the mess incase EX Husband denies this next time he wants to use my house? Or is that being petty?!

the word 'no' should suffice with your ex.....he cant force you to let him use your place. the access is his problem to sort out

as for the house,i would start in the kitchen!

Yes, to photos. And don't let him stay again, the dirty beggar.

Cbeebies on, park DC in front (maybe in high chairs if you know they won't budge) bribe with sweets if need be.

Do you have a dishwasher? Get that going, or stack dishes to wash and dry later.

Go around with a bin bag, and chuck everything out.

It must be superficial, even if it looks like a bomb has hit it, because it would have been tidy and clean when you left.

I would take photos and I wouldn't let him stay at my place again. I'd be concerned about his level of care with my dc if he can let a place get that bad in 3 days.
Practically, I'd start with the rubbish. Bin everything you can.
Open all the windows.
Sort stuff into piles of which room it should go in.
Put a load in the washing machine.
Clean the kitchen.
Clean the bathroom.
Hoover.
Polish.

Thanks. Dishwasher and washing machine are on and kitchen sides and table have had a first clean and are now "soaking" in cleaning stuff as its so stuck on.
All rubbish and recycling has gone out and next load of washing/dishes all ready when that has finished. Binned all the baby milk bottles as they were all mouldy and DD2 is 2 next month anyway so about time they went!
Windows all open and scented candles burning. DD1 at nursery so it's been easier but got to go and get her in half an hour. Drank loads of redbull to keep me going!

Off to go and see if I can semi finish the kitchen before nursery pick up!
