Who's got an induction hob?

Love my gas hob but getting a new kitchen soon and considering an induction hob. Worth it or should I stick with gas?

Induction hobs are great.
Easy-peasy to keep clean and shiny (Hob-brite)
Steady heat means you can leave anything simmering without having to check that it's not boiling over (even rice/pasta) every ten seconds.

Recommend nice new saucepans with smooooooooth bases. I've got only one scratch on mine, and that was from an old frying pan which had been Brilloed on the base, and I've had mine for six years. It's still black and shiny and believe me I could be housewife of the year if everything else looked as good. Wink

Fantastic - would never want anything else BUt we did need to replace all our saucepans. Some just won't work.

I love mine, far better than gas!

Thank you I think I'm converted still working on DH though.

It is a fantastic way of cooking! I love my induction hob and it is so smooth and looks great too. Really controllable.

Mine is a BOSCH and is SO fast - i would say it's possibly quicker than gas when the 'rapid boil' option is used.

Defo go for the induction. It's very fast, easy and safe as it's the pans that get hot rather than the hob (of course it does get hot from the pan... but yswim.

You just might have to invest in some new pans - you need ones with magnetic bases, so copper/aluminium won't work.

We have one. Love it (it's a Miele and is prone to beeping a little too often but otherwise fab). It never needs "cleaning" just "wiping" (iyswim), heats up really fast and can produce a really gentle heat too. My mother says in that respect it's far better than her gas hob which has a tendency to go out if down too low.

Also ours has a timer so that you can set it for a fixed time and then it will turn off. Great for avoiding overcooked pasta if you have kids who decide that the best time to have an argument, cut their finger open or whatever is about 2 minutes before the pasta is cooked.

I love my induction hob! Would never go back to gas now.
