Oh my days! Had never heard of such a device before and now I want one SOOO badly!
Have any of you lucky buggers got them? And do they work?

Wouldn't be without ours. Dh was sceptical, thought we'd end up taking it back, but we love it! We have a dog and it's great for picking up pet hairs.

Works just as well on carpet as hard floor.

You do need to empty it and keep the brushes clean - that takes about 5 minutes.

It freaks out the dog!

I like the idea of this, but doesn't it eat all the miniature everythings that end up on the floor - lego, coins, earrings, etc. Do you all lead extremely clean lives, or do you clean up first, or do you just accept that you will lose things? I know a normal hand held hoover would also eat these things, but at least you have the chance to stop and move it, or hoover around it. Would love one if it did not cause me extra work beforehand.

What do you do?

Bumping this as also thinking of buying one

Yourefired · 11/02/2012 00:49

I have one. It arrived when youngest was about 2 and she named it Charlie and it was her best friend for about 10 minutes. It's fab. Apparently, you can buy ones from same german company that mows the lawn.

It sounds great. Just a bit nervous about spending all that money. Is it really that good?

Kangarobber · 11/02/2012 19:32

We love ours, and the scooba Smile.

SquirtedPerfumeUpNoseInBoots · 11/02/2012 19:33

It is that good! Honestly.

When he picks up bits and pieces, like Lego, it just goes into the wee bin. It's very, very, easily picked out. Much more so than a normal vacuum.

Im back on the same thread nearly a year later, and I've still had no issues with roomba. He just gets on with his work!

noddyholder · 11/02/2012 19:33

Our new washing machine sings maybe i need a roomba to have a band!

countessbabycham · 11/02/2012 20:08

Do they deal with rugs on carpets OK?

evansthebread · 12/02/2012 01:02

Mine doesn't like rugs with fringes or my long hair (wraps around the brushes and can burn the motor out if not cleaned regularly).

Nothing but brilliant for daily dog hair pick up.

Louplet · 12/02/2012 20:12

I have long hair so I guess would have to clean it each time I used it
Is it hard to clean the brushes?

HappyHippyChick · 12/02/2012 21:22

I bought a Samsung robot Hoover this week from Argos as they were half price (£200) it is fab. My dh was v sceptical but he now thinks it's great. My only problem with it us that ds4 (16 months) is terrified if it and gets hysterical if it comes near him!!
