Painting flower pots

DD1 has been given some compost and flower bulbs by her grandparents to plant as she loves gardening. We picked up some pots for them and she really wanted to paint them herself as shes very creative.

Went to wicks today to get some paint and they advised just using bathroom paint as its water repellent. Im unsure. I got some mini pots for her and we are going to give it a go at the weekend. Do you think this will work or do i need something else that will protect them from the rain?

TIA

you could always varnish over it when you have finished and this will protect more from the weather,im sure you can get some waterproof varnish, good luck and have fun.

I used to work in an interior design shop where they sold terracotta pots painted with ordinary emulsion and had patterns.

I've done it myself too and it works really well.

Oh we will give it a go then, they are only cheap pots so if it washes off we can repaint them with something else. Just didnt want her to be upset if her 'masterpiece' washed off in the rain lol. Thanks
