Dishwasher Cleaner in with dishes by mistake

Apologies if I've already started a similar thread - I tried to about 5 minutes ago - but for some reason it doesn't appear to have come up... Confused

Anyway, we ran out of our normal dishwasher tabs, and DH, trying to be helpful, saw my little packet of dishwasher cleaning tabs (i.e. the ones you run through an empty cycle to clean the dishwasher/get rid of limescale etc), and thinking it was a promo pack of normal dishwasher tabs, put one in with all our dishes/pans/cutlery etc.

I only realised when I came into the kitchen with the machine on mid-cycle and realised that the smell coming out of the machine was a dishwasher cleaning tab smell.

Now I'm worried about whether it will be safe to use the dishes in the dishwasher again now they've been washed with that stuff. Am freaking out a bit.

Thanks for any thoughts

I think I'd be inclined to give it all another wash through, maybe a quick wash either with the proper tabs, or even with nothing, so they get an extra rinse.

Probably be fine. Your dishes should be extra clean. It's probably just got a bit of citric acid in it or caustic soda.

I soak pans in caustic soda when DH does scrambled eggs and it's fine to use afterwards.

The machines going to do a rinse cycle anyway.

Thanks v much.

Have run a wash without detergent and a wash with the proper tabs - the plates still smell of the dishwasher cleaning stuff though, so still feeling a bit wierd about it all...

Doesn't help that I suffer with OCD.

I know DH was trying to help this morning, which I truly appreciate, but - Gah!
