Berber carpets on stairs

I much prefer the look of Berber carpets to twists but are they really bad on stairs? I've been told that fitters don't like to use Berbe on stairs because it's not easy to get it looking neat - but what bothers me mainly is the pilling. Will it be really bad?

We have Berber on our landing and stairs. I'm not planning to use it again.

Looks fluffy, catches all the dirt and just looks horrible.

Oh that's a shame, Fluffy. I suppose I needed to hear this! Thanks for that. Twist it is then....

Don't use them on stairs - fluffy and pilling!

We inherited beautiful berber stair and hall carpets when we moved into our house, I think they were 5+ years old, and they look great. We used the same stuff for the bedrooms (which had been boarded) - its from Crucial Trading. www.crucial-trading.com

I think if you get a really good quality one, you won't have problems with pulls etc. As for laying them - yes its hard to get it neat, because there are lines within the carpet, they need to be straight - particularly important on stairs that turn corners etc. But get a good carpet fitter, and they will def be able to make it look good.

We have it on our stairs/landing and have no problems, we've got dogs and kids too so it gets pretty heavy wear. Been down for 4 years now and still going strong.
