Cleaning Grease!

Hi,
We moved house a while ago and the previous owners were not to clean unfortunately!

The tops of the kitchen cupboards have thick grease on them and no matter what I try, I cannot get them clean!!

Can someone please recommend a good cleaning solution for getting rid of kitchen grease (and years of it being built up)?

Thanks.

What have you tried and failed with?

Basically you need a strong detergent. Try washing powder, CIF, neat washing up liquid, and use a green scourer not a namby pamby cloth.

Flash with bleach spray is quite good, I remember using that when we moved into a very dirty house.

I'd say cif & a green scourer

Or if you want to risk it that fairy power spray.....but I'd test it first

Sugar soap might work or washing soda (but it's hard on the hands)

I've tried Sugar Soap, and bleach.
haven't tried cif though, or washing powder - might give the washing powde a try, as I think it needs somethng with a bit a grain in it IYKWIM!!!

We had to contend with this when we moved in and we actually scraped the thick layer of grease off with a paint scraper first (yuk!!!). It was easy peasy after that! Tia.

I have used washing up liquid and very hot water for getting rid of grease before. For the really tough bits, use it neat on a green scourer.

Get one of those hand held steam cleaners. They clean and sanitise.

Washing soda cuts through grease and grime, if it's really bad two cups and a couple of kettles of boiling water.

I always clean a house when we move but then I get to the house were in now and it was a shithole. And they had kids here ffs. Good luck!
