I Need a Toaster !!

Can anyone please recommend a good 2 slot toaster, please. I thought I would splash out and buy a Dualit toaster (£55) but they (and I've tried 2 different ones!) cook one side of the toast a lot more than the other side, so if you use the toaster quite soon after someone else you end up with one side nicely toasted and the other side cremated - not good Smile I know it's boring, but I do like my toast.

Have had Dualit for years ,would not have any other toaster, looks really good , hardwearing and most importantly , makes great toast.

Mine's Dualit too (to match my kettle ha ha!) and it's never given me that problem. I think they're well worth the money.

Thanks for your replies, I'm glad yours are working OK, but these definitely aren't perhaps it's because they are the Dualit lite toaster or maybe like everything else the quality of things seem to be getting worse while the prices are staying (or even rising!) the same?

I've yet to find a satisfactory toaster that toasts evenly to my high expectations Wink

I've actually gone back to using the grill. I find it doesn't actually take any longer as you don't have to keep putting the slices up and down like with my shite toaster, and you always get a good result (occasionally distractions and resulting burnings aside...)

*occasional

I love my dualit. Ours cost £100 pounds for the four slicer and it's fab. I can't use the grill as I like hot toast and I don't think a grill gives you that!

4 slice dualit here too - had it 23 years and it looks as good as ever. Not great for odd numbered pieves of toast though - I turn them round half way through.

Our four slicer lets you choose any number of slices up to 4! It's a couple of years old.

get a tefal toast n egg. i love mine. 2 slices of toast and a poached egg in 3 minutes, with only minimal washing up. apparently, it can also be used to make a full english for one, but i am happy with my egg Grin

Our fancy wedding gift toaster broke during a house move 2 years ago. I bought an ASDA basics toaster for (I think) about 11 quid. It's really good, works well on defrost and reheat as well as normal toasting, still going strong.

I have a dualit, which works brilliantly well, also making ham-cheese melts. If it only works on one side then it could be that the number of slices selector is set at the wrong setting.
