How much electricity and gas do you use?

We have just had our gas and leccy bills. After picking myself up off the floor (combined cost of £934.00 for the last quarter)I checked the projected cost for next year. It came in at 1385.55 for gas and 938.81 for electricity. Is this excessive or about average?

My supplier is EDF and I live in an Edwardian semi. Just wondered what everyone else was paying...

2 bedroom terraced...£1560/year gas and £780/ year for elec. working out as £30/week for gas and £15/week for elec. supplier scottish power.

As everyone will be on different tarrifs it doesn't help much to give costs. The actual amount of gas and electricity you use would probably be a better comparison? We use about 18,000 kWh of gas and 8000 kWh of electricity a year. Three bed semi detached. gas central heating. (I know the gas is outrageous)

We have a 3 bed terrace house and our electricity is £65 a month and our gas is £12 a month which comes to£924 for both.

£12 a month on Gas?
Do you have Gas CH?

MirandaWest · 11/03/2011 17:02

We have recently changed suppliers and the projected cost per month is about £45 for gas and electricity combined. We were paying £100 a month so am not convinced tbh but we did get a lot of gas rebate when we changed sp there may be something in it. 3 bedroom semi and don't do that much heating. Slight overuse of tumble dryer though.

dexter73 · 11/03/2011 17:45

Yes we have gas central heating (a hot air system) and a gas hob. Hot water is heated by electricity.

3 bed mid terrace, 2 adults 1 child (although DC2 due Sunday!), electric only/ no gas etc, £70 per month. Annual consumption last 12 months 8500 units (but mixed price as economy 12)

Very envious of all these usages. Old Cotswold stone house, 6 bedrooms and an office with 4 computers. Our annual usage is 65,000KWH for gas and 12,000KWH for electricity, and we pay just over £4000 per year for both at the moment. So that's nearly £80 a week!

Depressingly, our house is BLOODY freezing most of the time as our heating is hardly on at all, and we held off putting it on at all this year until mid November time. Have a woodburner though so one room is usually warm. Use tumble dryer a lot...

We use about 10,000 KWH of electric per year, and roughly 3 tanks of LPG gas-3000litres.

Pay £90 per month electic and £100 month gas.

I would recommend going onto one of the comparison websites. We switched last year and went from £140 to £90 per month for electric.
