Vacuum all the edges and under furniture daily until you stop seeing the white castors. You'll need to empty your Hoover to get rid of any eggs and larvae.
Good luck, they can be a bugger to get rid of!

Would a professional pest control company tackle them?

DH had a bad moth problem when we met. We ended up replacing all the carpets, as there was quite a lot of damage - with a very cheapo carpet with no natural fibres, so they were unable to come back. Quite quickly sold the flat after that, and the buyers loved the fact the carpets were new.

IIRC he had rentokil around etc, but the prob kept coming back - partly because he was storing lots of junk, and kept some boxes etc directly on the floor.

It seems there is a big problem in our area - local hardware shop told me. It is a nice clean carpet - not a manky old one Sad - need to move a couple of dp's boxes - might get rid of carpet like delikate did

We got rid of our carpet. We had quite a bad problem because I had never heard of carpet moths and just didn't understand what the hell was going on. Went on hol and err horrible when got back. We got a nice cheap, 'give yourself electric shock type carpet'. I was so traumatised my moths I can't see me EVER having a wool carpet again. Even get nervous now about wool clothing!! Even now I am on the look out for the little buggers coz we are quite a cluttery lot/leave clothes about. Acrylic and nylon all the way!!

Just remembered. One thing that did work was borax sprinkled and left for few hours before vacumning. Make sure no kids around or pets though - don't want them eating or breathing it in. That worked well but we discovered problem too late and our carpet ruined so just got rid of it in end. [Google carpet moth and borax. Might call it carpet mites which sounds worse!] Good luck!
